Identifying Modified/newely added row in af:table, get all modified rows of viewobject in bean

This post talks about two requirements-

  1. Want to highlight modified rows only on page
  2. Want to get modified rows in managed bean
First One could be achieved without writing a single line of code only using expression, a row in table or view object has four state-
  • New
  • Modified
  • Un-Modified
  • Initialized

  • I'm using Departments table of HR Schema to implement this sample app
  • after business components configuration ,Drop departments VO from data control on page as af:table
  • Now to check row status , i have written following expression in inline style of af:column of af:table, so that it can check state of all rows of table 

  • #{row.row.entities[0].entityState==2 ? 'background-color:orange' : row.row.entities[0].entityState==0 ? 'background-color:darkgreen' : ''} 
    

  • Now Run your page and change any value of table
       After Updating Values in Row- see modified rows are highlighted
  •  Now you are done with first requirement , if we talk about second one, in case you want to get all modified rows in managed bean to perform some operation
  • To achieve this i have used a transient attribute in Departments view Object to store state of each row
  • Now in RowImpl of departments viewobject i have to write some code to get current state of Row, see the getter method of transient attribute in RowImpl

  • Now i have placed a button on page to get all modified rows and show a message on page through managed bean
  • See the method written in ApplicationModuleImpl class and then exposed to client to be used in managed bean action event

  • Now again run this page and change some departments then click on get modified rows, it will show currently modified rows

Executing SQL query in an ADF Application using DBTransaction & JDBC DataSource

                 This post is about executing SQL query in your ADF Application
Sometimes we need to execute some query in our managed bean or any of implementation class of Model, this is quite easy


  • I have a fusion web application having connection with hr schema of Oracle DB
  • now i have to get Max Department Id of Departments Table using this statement

  • SELECT max(DEPARTMENT_ID) CODE FROM DEPARTMENTS
    

  • So to execute this query i have created a method in AMImpl class using DBTransaction

  • Second way is by using JDBC DataSource , for this first we have to get Connection using DataSource Name- see this method

  • Now after getting connection , we can execute SQL query using Statement or PreparedStatement
  • Go to your ApplicationModule to get DataSource Name, in Configuration tab open AMLocal

  •  Copy DataSource Name , and use it to get Connection and to execute query

Creating dynamic layout (form and UI Component) using ADF Faces

today i had a scenario to create UI Components at run time and i tried to do that on my ADF page.
searched lot in Google and finally all summary is in post.

Suppose you have to create UI Components (input text, buttons, check-boxes etc ) or form (set of multiple UI Components) at runtime - follow these steps


  • Find a parent component to create child under it as any layout (panel form, panel group, af:form etc)
  • Suppose you have a page with a panel form layout, now you have to create child components in this form layout at runtime
  • Bind this form layout to managed bean

  • Now thanks to Mahmoud A. Elsayed for this method, that adds child component to parent component

  • you can call this method , wherever you want to create UI Component and add it to page .
  • Now i have created a button on page and a radio box to select which component should be created
  • Now on button click , i have generated components conditionally based on selection
  • To generate any component - see managed bean code to create input text

  • Now run this application and select input text to create-

  • Select others also and create a form

  • You can create complex forms using this

Invoke ADF Table Selection Listener, custom selection listener for af:table

Sometimes we need to define our own selection listner for adf table, or we have to perform some operation on row selection in
 af:table.
We can do this by defining custom selection listener for table in Managed bean.
In this tutorial i am showing a popup on table row selection for Employees table in HR Schema


  • Prepare model and ViewController for Employees table and drag table in your page. Now select table and go to property Inspector , you will see its default selection listener 



  • Now define your own (custom) selection listener for this table in your managed bean

  • Now write this code snippet on that custom selection listener,this code invokes its default listener and get the selected row. first you have to invoke its default listener that is

Show current Date and Time on Page in Oracle ADF (refresh Date/time Programmatically)

This tutorial i am going to explain that how to show current date and time on your ADF application page
Follow Steps-

  • Create a fusion web application and a page in it (i have used .jspx page)
  • Now drag an output text from component palette and drop it on page

  • Now select the output text and go to its property inspector then select value from Expression Builder as shown in image
  • Now in Expression Builder ,create a Managed Bean of type java.util.Date and assign its value to output text

  •  Now run your page and see current date is there
  • Now to format Date and Time , drag and drop af:convertDateTime  under output text from component palette



  •  Select convertDateTime and go to property inspector and change its pattern and run your page


  •  Now you have done basic configuration for Date/Time, if you want to refresh time (second and minute part) on page periodically then drop a poll component in page and create a poll listener in managed bean
  • Now write this simple code in your managed bean to invoke poll listener

Hiding search icon of af:inputListOfValues using CSS & StyleClass -Oracle ADF

This post talks about skinning inputListOfValues to hide it's search icon (magnifying glass)
we can use auto suggest feature in inputListOfValues so if we don't want to display that default search icon then what to do ?


  • inputListOfValues looks like this in ADF Faces
  •  I have created a page and dropped 2 inputListOfValues on page

  •  there is 2 types of requirement about hiding search icon
    1. Hide icon of all inputListOfValues(LOVs) available on page or application
    2. Hide icon of some selected fields
  • to do this we have to create a CSS (skin) in application
  • give relevant name of CSS file and set this file as default skin of application



  • Now to hide icon of selected inputListOfValues component in application, go to source of CSS file and just write this code
     

  • .TagSearchIconHidden af|inputListOfValues::search-icon-style
    {
    display: none;
    } 
    

  • Now go to page and paste TagSearchIconHidden in StyleClass property of lov component to hide it's icon, run your page and see, i have done this in my first LOV

  •  Now to hide icons of all lov component just change CSS file with this script

  • af|inputListOfValues::search-icon-style

      background-image: none; 
    }
    

  • Now no need to set StyleClass, it is applicable to all lov components of application
